As part of the LoveLula Accredited Blogger Programme I receive the LoveLula Beauty Box*. I highly recommend the beauty box subscription – it’s only £13.95 per month and often the value of the products are more than double this amount (this month it is more than five times as the products value at over £70!). There’s always a good variety of different brands and products in the boxes, and everything is cruelty free and natural (like all LoveLula products). The other thing I love about this beauty box subscription is you receive a voucher code to get 20% off purchases from the brands featured in the box that month.
At the moment you can also get this particular box free with any order at LoveLula* of over £60; just use the code FREEBOX at the checkout.
So, on to my review of January’s box. I’ve been testing each of these products over the last three weeks so I can give you an idea of their effectiveness. I’ve also made a video review where I talk in more detail about each item:
Madara are quite often featured in the beauty box, and they tend to be very popular items (I’ve certainly enjoyed everything I’ve tried by them so far – the Anti-Fatigue Eye Rescue Cream* was a stand out product in the November box and the SOS Instant Moisture and Radiance Hydra Mask was a stand out product in the December box). This month it’s a night cream from their Time Miracle range which I’ve heard a lot of great things about. My favourite night time product is the Laidbare From Dusk Till Dawn Night Serum* which is an oil, so it’s been quite a change for me to use a cream as my final step instead (I still use an oil before it though as my serum step!). The cream is quite thick and can take a bit of working in to the skin initially, but it absorbs well and nourishes my skin overnight (I haven’t been waking with dry skin). It seems to be suiting my skin really well so I’ll be continuing to use it though I have to confess it doesn’t feel as luxurious to apply as using the Laidbare From Dusk Till Dawn Night Serum so I’ll be switching back to that once this is used up. If you prefer night creams to oils I think this is a really good one that I would certainly recommend if it’s in your budget.
MOA Fortifying Green Body Potion* (100ml, £27.50)
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand but haven’t tried it before now so was very much looking forward to this one. However, I don’t often take baths as our bath takes about 40 minutes to fill (no exaggeration!). In order to test this product out I’ve had three baths in as many weeks and have really enjoyed them. The scent is lovely and fresh yet relaxing too. It’s highly concentrated; you only need 2-3 capfuls and I find this scents the whole upstairs of the house! It’s recommended to use at the end of a day and I can definitely see why as it’s a lovely evening pamper treat to help you relax ready for bed. Having this product is encouraging me to make the time to enjoy baths which is definitely helping me relax both physically and mentally. In the video I said I probably wouldn’t buy this for myself but the more I use it the more I wonder if I would. It’s not a cheap product but cost per use is less than using Lush bath bombs and it’s not sitting in my bathroom cupboard unloved like bath bombs can do, so maybe I would repurchase. It’s definitely opened my mind to trying alternative bath products (and perhaps seeing if we can sort our slow running tap issue!). Let me know if you have any bath product recommendations 🙂
PHB Brightening Eye Gel (15ml, £16.95)
I’ve tried a few PHB products in the past (from previous beauty boxes and my own purchases) and have liked almost everything I’ve tried from the brand though I do tend to prefer their make up over their skincare. I wasn’t too excited by this eye gel as we had the Madara Anti-Fatigue Eye Rescue Cream* that I’ve been using since the November beauty box. However, I’ve been using the PHB one every morning and night since receiving the box and I have to say I think it might actually be helping reduce my dark circles. It could also be due to the fact I’ve been sleeping better recently, but I’ll be continuing to use the eye gel to see if it does help. It’s a gloopy gel which quickly smooths out to a light, refreshing consistency which feels lovely to apply, and it absorbs well. The only minor frustration for me is the application method; it’s in a small tube but the nozzle isn’t as small as the Madara one which makes it tricky to just get out the tiny amount you need. It’s cheaper than the Madara so I think this would probably be the one I’d repurchase (if I ever actually use up both the eye creams I have – using up an eye treatment is quite an achievement I feel!).
Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow Hair Minimising Moisturiser* (125ml, £6.99)
This is another full-sized product at 125ml. I’ve tried quite a lot of Laidbare products and wrote a review recently based on my experience using just Laidbare facial skincare (spoiler: there are some incredible products I love and they’re such good value!). This product however is one I haven’t tried before and although it sounded intriguing I have to confess I’m probably not the best person to test this. I don’t have a lot of body hair and regrowth is fairly slow. I epilate, so I don’t tend to get irritation either (which some people get from shaving). So I’m definitely not the target market for this product! I did give it a go though and I shaved rather than epilated to test out the promise that it helps soothe skin after shaving. It passed on that test; it didn’t irritate my skin at all after shaving. It’s more of a gel than a cream and it’s quite a runny consistency (as you can see in the video), but I like that as it makes it easier to apply. It smells fresh and I like the scent. I can’t vouch for the hair minimising properties as my hair doesn’t grow back quickly anyway, but it’s a nice gentle moisturiser and for the price it’s probably worth a go!
This month’s beauty box was fantastic value and a good variety of products. I always enjoy testing skincare items and thought this had a good mix. The stand-out products for me this month were the MOA bath potion and the PHB eye gel, plus the Madara night cream is really suiting my skin. Another fantastic box – thanks LoveLula! 🙂
