Native Unearthed Natural Deodorant Balm

A while ago I shared some reviews of natural deodorants I’d tried and shared that fact that I’d been really impressed by the Indigenous Beauty cream deodorant. Since then I’ve tried more of this type of deodorant and found some that are definitely worth sharing.

Native Unearthed are a UK brand with a really simple philosophy and ethos for ingredients:

If You Won’t Put It In You, We Won’t Put It On You

Now I’m not advocating for eating your deodorant but it’s good to know it’s not full of lots of ingredients you’ve never heard of!

I first tried the Coconut and Vanilla Natural Deodorant Balm* and fell in love with the scent. It’s also really effective, even in the gym.  You only need a tiny amount so the jar lasts ages. It is a little grainy though and can be difficult to apply without making a mess. The ingredients list really is simple, and I love that on the packaging it explains the purpose of each ingredient:

  • Baking Soda – Neutralises Odour
  • Arrowroot – Absorbs Moisture
  • Vanilla Pods – Vitamin B6
  • Coconut Oil – Cleansing, Detoxifying
  • Shea Butter – Moisturising, Soothing

I’d heard the Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant Balm* was smoother in texture so I bought one of those next and certainly it is! This is definitely my favourite cream deodorant in terms of texture; it’s much smoother and holds together well which makes it easier to get out of the tub and easier to apply. The scent isn’t as yummy as the Coconut and Vanilla one but it smells very fresh (from the rosehip and lavender essential oils) and I’d say is suitable for men as well as women. It’s also one of the most effective natural deodorants I’ve tried.

The ingredients in this one are:

  • Baking Soda – Neutralises Odour
  • Arrowroot – Absorbs Moisture
  • Activated Charcoal – Extra Odour Control
  • Coconut Oil – Cleansing, Detoxifying
  • Shea Butter – Moisturising, Soothing
  • Rosehip Oil – Antioxidant
  • Lavender Oil – Antibacterial

This one does have a grey tinge to it, but it blends into skin well and doesn’t leave a mark. I actually find this one better than some of the other deodorants that can leave a white mark. This one is really effective and has shot to the top of my list in terms of effectiveness and ease of applying.

The Native Unearthed deodorants are incredibly good value (just £6.99 for 60ml which lasts ages) and I really like the fact they come with an applicator to help you get the product out (not all cream deodorants do). I’d certainly recommend them and will continue to buy them (though I am also trying Elsa’s Deodorant Sticks as I do prefer a more traditional application method, especially when I’m at the gym).

What’s your favourite natural deodorant brand? There seem to be more appearing all the time! 🙂
