As part of the LoveLula Accredited Blogger Programme I receive the LoveLula Beauty Box*. I highly recommend the beauty box subscription – it’s only £14.95 per month and often the value of the products are more than double or even triple this amount (this month the products are worth £67!). There’s always a good variety of different brands and products in the boxes, and everything is cruelty free (like all LoveLula products). The other thing I love about this beauty box subscription is you receive a voucher code to get 25% off purchases from the brands featured in the box that month which is great if you discover a product you love (or you want to try something else from the brand). So what was in the May box?
Madara RE:GENE Lifting Mask* (60ml, £35.00)
I’ll be honest, I’m really not sure why anyone would need a “lifting” mask and it’s not something I’ve ever looked for myself. According to the description, the idea with this mask is that it firms and plumps skin and restores lost volume. I’ve only used it a couple of times and can’t imagine the effect would be instant, so I can’t really comment on the lifting aspect, but I do like the product. It’s quite a thick cream, and you can either leave it on or remove it after 20 minutes or so. I’ve used it as a leave-in product overnight. As with many Madara products, it has very pleasant scent and I really like using it. I use it like a thick night cream. I don’t think it’s anything particularly special over and above other similar creams/masks though so I’m not sure I could justify the £35 cost and I’m not sure I’d repurchase it full price.
Seascape Island Apothecary Refresh Hand Lotion* (300ml, £16.00)
I was surprised to see this in the box, as we fairly recently had a hand cream from the same brand. I think the hand lotion is a slightly lighter consistency, though I’m not entirely sure. The initial scent of this is lovely, though it soon goes a little musky which I’m not sure I like. It is quite a light lotion though it has a slightly greasy consistency which I don’t love and it’s not the most moisturising – probably fine for normal skin, but not enough for dry skin. It’s not a bad product, but not amazing either.
Ayumi Body Scrub* (200ml, £6.99)
This brand is new to LoveLula and it’s always good to try out new brands which are more affordable. I got the Sandalwood scrub which I can’t make my mind up on the scent of. I really like the consistency though, and the way it makes my skin feel. It’s a cleansing scrub and it’s more like a gel with scrub particles. I’m very tempted to try one of the other scents to see if I like them better. I’ll definitely continue to use this until it runs out, and I may well try another scent afterwards. If you’re looking for a good value body scrub I’d certainly suggest giving these a go.
JOIK Pastel Pink Silky Lip Balm* (7p, £6.00)
I love JOIK! This is a really lovely product – initially I was worried it would be too pale as I don’t like to wear pale colours on my lips, but this is nice and sheer so the colour doesn’t matter too much. It gives a really nice sheen on the lips and is kind of like a subtle gloss that is also moisturising and adds a little bit of colour. I’m a huge fan of tinted lip balms anyway and this is another lovely one I’d definitely recommend.
Vestige Verdant Peat Mask* Sample (50ml is £39.00)
Hmmm. I’m not sure I get this product. It claims to tighten skin and smooth, but I didn’t find it made any difference to my skin. I didn’t love the scent (though it wasn’t as strong as I feared), and it was messy (although I rinsed it in the shower), so I’m not sure I would recommend this product personally. I wonder if leaving it on for longer may have helped; I do sometimes do this with face masks but for this one I followed the instructions and left it for 3 minutes. Did anyone else love this?
There were again some really great brands in this month’s box; I might have to take advantage of the 25% offer to stock up on some other products from these brands that I love (the offer is valid until June 10th). The stand out products for me this month were the JOIK Pastel Pink Silky Lip Balm and the Ayumi Body Scrub*. I’ve been receiving the LoveLula Beauty Box for over a year now and I still absolutely love it; I’ve discovered so many great products and it’s such good value. You can subscribe to the LoveLula beauty box* in various different packages – I highly recommend it as it’s a highlight of my month!
