It’s been a little while since I last shared my empties, and quite a stash has been building up, so I thought it was about time for another post. Here’s what I’ve used up recently…
PHB Coffee Bean Scrub & Mask* (150ml, £16.00)
This is something I don’t like to be without; as soon as I get close to running out I order another! It’s a really lovely scrub that I use in the shower on both my face and body. It smells amazing and my skin feels lovely after using it. It is a bit messy, hence only using it in the shower!
Repurchase? Yes, I already have.
Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser* (200ml, £24.99)
I really enjoyed using this! I wasn’t sure about the scent at first but I grew to like it, and I really like using a gel cleanser as a morning cleanse. I didn’t love the dispenser as too much product would come out so I felt it got used up more quickly than needed.
Repurchase? Possibly, though I have other balm and gel cleansers that I really like too.
Evolve Gentle Cleansing Melt* (30ml travel size, £9.00)
You’ll see a few Evolve products in this post! This is a lovely cleanser and is quite a unique texture. It’s a gel cleanser but in a glass tub like a balm. It’s quite a thin consistency, and is very light. It smells lovely, and feels so smooth. This is a really good smaller size for travelling with, and I have a full size* (£22 for 120ml) and half size* (£12 for 60ml) as well – it’s great to have so many different options. I really enjoy this – it’s a really gentle cleanser that always calms my skin. I think it may be one of my favourite cleansers and that’s quite an accolade considering how many I’ve tried and how many I like!
Repurchase? Yes, I already have.
Dr Botanicals Coffee Superfood Renewing Facial Exfoliator* (30ml, £14.90)
I got this in the April 2018 Beauty Box so you can see my initial impressions in my April 2018 Beauty Box blog post. I love how it’s a smooth, creamy product as well as having the exfoliating bits – it feels much more nourishing than other facial exfoliators.
Repurchase? Possibly, but again I have quite a few facial exfoliators that I really like.
Pure & Light Organic Skincare Revitalising Facial Exfoliation* (50ml, £28.00)
This is a sample sized product that I got in the LoveLula Beauty Box. I’ve also had the full-size in the past and reviewed the Pure & Light Facial Exfoliator and the Essential Face Cream. This is a gentle exfoliator so something you can use on a more regular basis than normal, and as it’s a cream it’s nice and moisturising too.
Repurchase? As above – possibly, but I have lots of facial exfoliators I love.
Evolve Superfood Shine Shampoo* (50ml travel size, £5.00)
Another Evolve product I tried and liked – the shampoo is really effective. It lathers well and cleanses hair leaving no residue. I really like the scent too. The one thing I do find is it can leave my hair a little “squeaky” clean and dry so it needs a good nourishing conditioner afterwards. This is another product that is available in lots of different sizes (it’s £13 for 250ml* or £24 for 500ml*) – I love that Evolve do that.
Repurchase? Probably not as I have other shampoos which are cheaper and I prefer, and I’m thinking of moving to solid shampoos.
Evolve Superfood Shine Conditioner* (50ml travel size, £6.00)
I liked this but I did have to use a lot for it to be effective. I’m not sure I can judge this fairly as I only used it in conjunction with the shampoo and I needed a lot of the conditioner which could partially be because the shampoo left my hair quite dry. I do still feel like this conditioner was too light and not concentrated enough for me though. This is another Evolve product that is available in a range of sizes; it’s £15 for 250ml* or £28 for 500ml*.
Repurchase? I don’t think so as I have to use so much.
Alteya Organics Organic Rosehip Seed Oil* (20ml, £8.75)
I got this in a beauty box and am so impressed! It smells lovely (not too much like rose which is what I initially expected) and is really nourishing. It absorbs well into my skin and doesn’t leave any shine, and it helps to keep my skin feeling soft and supple all day. It’s amazing value too.
Repurchase? I think so, but I have lots of face oils on the go at the moment and there are plenty of others I enjoy using too. For value for money, this is definitely towards the top of my list.
Evolve Hyaluronic Serum 200* (30ml, £30.00)
This is such a lovely product! I tried a sample and have repurchased it a couple of times since. My skin seems to really love hyaluronic acid so I’m always keen to try products which have it as an ingredient and this is one that has worked well. As with other Evolve products, you can try a travel size of this first (£12 for 10ml*).
Repurchase? Already have – this is my favourite serum and although I do use others when I come back to this my skin always seems to appreciate it. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s definitely worth it.
Joik Lemon & Vanilla Body Scrub* (225g, £15.00)
I love the scent of this so much. It has that zesty citrus fresh scent whilst also having the sweetness from the vanilla. It’s a fairly thick scrub but not too rough or drying. I really like it and it’s less messy than some of the coffee scrubs I love. As you can see from the photo, I used up every last bit of this!
Repurchase? Quite possibly yes, but not at the moment as I have coffee body scrubs to use.
I’ve used a similar product to this before from a non cruelty-free brand and it helps my hair stay stronger and gives it volume (without too much frizz!) so I bought this to compare. It’s good! It’s also really excellent value and lasts for ages. My main problem is remembering to use it (you have to apply it 20 minutes before you wash your hair). I have used it in the bath which has worked well.
Repurchase? Possibly, though it’s a “nice to have” type of product rather than something I need.
Pixi Retinol Tonic* (100ml, £10.00)
I’ve loved pretty much every Pixi product I’ve tried; both skincare and make up so when the retinol range came out I was eager to try it. My skin seemed to respond well to this – I used it at night and it did help to keep my skin smooth and clear. I definitely notice when I skip this part of my skincare routine as my skin starts to suffer. I’m glad Pixi is getting easier to find; it’s now in Boots as well as M&S.
Repurchase? Possibly, though it is expensive so at the moment I’m using the Lacura version from Aldi which is much cheaper (and also cruelty free).
Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque* (100ml, £11.95)
I’ve had this product for a while and keep coming back to it when my skin need a refresh. It’s a very thick mask (probably one that would benefit from an applicator as it gets all over my hands!), and it sets on the skin like you would expect from a clay mask. I love the scent, and I love the way my skin feels after. It definitely helps to detoxify and is great when I can feel I have some spots coming. It is a bit tricky to remove, but a muslin cloth helps.
Repurchase? Possibly, though I have plenty of face masks at the moment.
