Welcome back. And welcome to part 2 of trusting as part of the TRUE Leaders Programme. So in the previous video we talked about what trust is and what it means to you and hopefully you find it useful to spend a little bit of time thinking about what trust is, how you think about trust, and how it shows up in your life. And maybe if you did the stretch task, if you spoke to some other people about what trust is about to them and perhaps that taught you something and you might have had some great conversations that came out of that as well. So I hope you found that useful.

Today what we're going to do is encourage you to think about trusting yourself. So thinking about what is the trust is for you and then applying that to yourself. And we can probably think of examples and I encourage you in a moment to think about examples of when you trusted yourself, but first, I'd like you to make sure that you're really thinking about what it was that was important about trust and applying that to yourself. So my example before was about belief, so for me trusting myself is about having belief in myself. You might have had something slightly different in your definition of what trust is about. We talked about the definition where we had reliability, truth and ability. It's partly about that in one definition, whatever it was that was important to you. I like to think about how you apply that to yourself and the benefits of that for you. So I'd really like you for today's task to remember a time… and it may be multiple times, it may be certain situations, it may be a certain part of your life, but I'd like you to identify at least one, but more if it's helpful, time that you've really trusted and yourself, truly trusted in yourself.

To share a personal example for me that normally shows up in my work life - not all of the time, I'm only human the same as everybody else. So we're not always going to be able to trust in ourselves. But when I can, I can think of examples that show up in my working life, and the way that shows up for me is belief that I can do things. Sometimes I get invited to do things or asked to do things or I put myself forward to things and I have that doubt. And I think, " Oh, I don't think I can do this. I think someone else is better place to do this. I don't think I'm the right person." And I have those little, little negative voice in my head giving some of those, some of that too much energy. When I trust myself, I have belief in myself. And what that enables me to do is it enables me to do all the things that I truly believe I'm here on Earth to do. But the negative voice sometimes stops me. So for me, that trust is about having belief in myself. The TRUE Leaders Programme is a perfect example of that, where I've trusted myself to deliver this programme. And I've put that trust into myself and the result is what you're watching now. It's been months, if not actually a couple of years to get to this place, but throughout that there's been that belief that this is the right thing for me to do and that I can help people.

So what is it about your life? Where do you show that trust for you? And where does that show up? That's the first piece.

And the second piece, and this is where it might be a little bit more of a stretch. So remember about moving outside of your comfort zone and into your stretch zone. I'd like you to think about how it could be if you could trust yourself even more. So maybe you'd like to choose a certain scenario that you wanted to focus on in the programme. Maybe you want to choose that area for this task that you wanted to focus on, and maybe you want to think about how could I trust myself more in this area, or maybe you've got a certain situation coming up and you’ve got a little bit of doubt about it? How would it be if you could trust yourself? So the first part of this bit is about that and the second part is what will the benefits be. So if you can, if you're the sort of person who does visualization, if you're the sort of person that enjoys doing some sort of grounding practice or anything like that. Just think about how it would feel to trust yourself and what the benefits would be. And that's what I'd like you to reflect on today.

So we've thought about what trust is and part two is thinking about how we trust ourselves. What we're going to come to next is about trusting others, but for now, just think about trusting yourself and the benefits of that for you. So I hope you enjoy thinking about that, thinking about the times where you've already trusted yourself, celebrate those, as well really appreciate those, those moments, or those times, or those situations where you've put trust in yourself. It's something to be incredibly grateful and appreciative of. So celebrate those and then think about where could you trust yourself more and how might that be and what would the benefits be for you. So that's the current task for this part. And I'll see you in the next one soon when we start to think about going slightly outside of ourselves. Thank you ever so much. Enjoy.
